I called the project 225 Million because that number — the women without access to family planning — made an abstract climate statistic feel suddenly, painfully human. Researching it shifted how I understood climate solutions; I came to see women’s education as one of the most overlooked and effective levers we have. Entering the One Planet, Many People contest gave me a framework to connect human rights and the environment in the same breath, and left me convinced that you can’t talk seriously about the planet without talking about equity.
