Unreal Engine 5 — The Wendigo & Motion-Capture Studies
A body of real-time cinematic work in Unreal Engine 5, centered on The Wendigo — an oral-storytelling horror experience made with Zoe Gilmore that pairs MetaHuman characters, digitally tailored garments, and a foreboding cave environment to dramatize hunger, isolation, and transformation. It runs the full virtual-production pipeline: MetaHuman creation, LiveLink facial capture, Marvelous-Designer costume simulation, Blender assets, environment rendering, and sound design.

This is where I stopped thinking like a single-discipline designer and started running a virtual film studio out of one machine. I built the cast as MetaHumans, drove their performances with LiveLink facial capture, tailored their clothing in 3D so the flannel actually moved like flannel, and staged it all inside a cave I lit for dread and intimacy. Wrestling real-time rendering, mocap, garment sim, and sound into one coherent piece taught me how modern games and cinematics are really made: many pipelines, one performance.
