Appropriation — Remixing Gosha Rubchinskiy
An appropriation and pattern-design study that remixes the camouflage and motif language of Russian fashion designer Gosha Rubchinskiy, presented as a grid of recolored repeat patterns. The piece riffs on Cyrillic typography and post-Soviet streetwear aesthetics, generating a series of variant colorways from a shared camo silhouette.

Appropriation is one of my favorite ways to learn — you can’t remix a designer like Gosha Rubchinskiy without first taking apart exactly why his patterns and Cyrillic branding feel the way they do. Rebuilding the camo as a recolorable repeat taught me real production craft around seamless tiling and palette systems. It is a study in influence: honoring a reference while using it as a sandbox for my own pattern and color instincts.
