“You Are Alone” is me trying to look directly at isolation instead of softening it. I wanted the film to hold that feeling long enough to be uncomfortable, because that discomfort is the honest part. It’s a third draft, and there’s something fitting about returning to a piece about loneliness again and again until it finally says what I mean.
