The Idea

The body as a drawing tool

An experimental design exercise built on the idea of the “repeated mark” — using the act of walking itself as a mark-making system, where steps accumulate into composition and pattern. The most direct framing puts it bluntly: walking 100,000 steps in order to “make a mark,” turning repetitive human motion into a generative visual gesture.

Body

The composition emerges from doing the same thing over and over until it adds up to something.

Reflection

Reflection

With the walking pieces I became interested in the body as a drawing tool — the idea that 100,000 repeated steps could themselves be a mark, not just the means to one. Treating walking as a repeated, accumulating gesture made me think about authorship and endurance: the composition emerges from doing the same thing over and over until it adds up to something. It’s experimental and a little obsessive, which is exactly the headspace I wanted to explore.
