Holocene Extinction Fold-Out
A hand-illustrated fold-out booklet about the Holocene (sixth mass) extinction, organized into endangered species, extinct species, and threats like overfishing and ocean acidification. Rendered in dense, woodcut-like cross-hatching with vivid complementary color, the accordion format lets the narrative of decline unfold panel by panel.

I chose the woodcut-style hatching because extinction deserves weight and gravity, not slick polish — every line had to feel earned. Splitting it into endangered, extinct, and threats gave the piece a sober structure, and putting the thylacine among the already-lost still stings. The fold-out form mattered: you physically open it the way you’d uncover bad news. It pushed me to use illustration as advocacy, not just decoration.
