Cardboard Lounge Chair
A full-size reclining lounge chair fabricated entirely from corrugated cardboard, shown supporting a seated adult. The sculptural, wave-like silhouette curves from a high backrest into an extended footrest, exploring cantilever, ribbing, and load distribution using only cardboard and slot joinery.

Reflection
The brief was deceptively simple — make a chair from cardboard that actually holds a person — but it became a crash course in structure. I shaped the recline around the body first, then worked backward to figure out where ribs and folds needed to stiffen the curve. Sitting in it for the photo was the real test, and feeling it hold was genuinely thrilling. It taught me to respect a “cheap” material and design strength through geometry rather than mass.
