Spatial Dynamics — Avatar Mask
The Avatar Mask is an intricate layered-cardboard headpiece built for a Spatial Dynamics study, with feathered, fanning plumes that radiate from the face like an animal crest. Hundreds of cut cardboard fronds are stacked into a sweeping, lightweight sculptural form worn on the head.

The Avatar Mask let me push cardboard from flat sheet into something that reads as feathered and almost organic. Every frond was a small spatial decision about rhythm and overhang, and stacking them taught me how repetition and slight rotation can fake softness out of a stiff material. Wearing it turns the abstract exercise into something embodied — the form has to balance, breathe, and frame a face.
